Our proposed text is a Music Video for the song "Stay Together For the Kids", by Blink 182. The plan is to have a full performance based video, BUT not just a band performance.
There will of course be a band performance that is intercut into the video, but the main part of the video will be the three separate band members in different locations playing along to the song. So the band members will be sat, stood or kneeling, with or without instruments at different points in the video - with 10 - 15 different FULL video takes of different members in different locations interweaving throughout the video, and revolving around the main performance video.
This sort of video will mean a LOT of footage being shot - perhaps up to two hours - so we have an interesting, shifting video that requires the audience to watch it to notice new things.
Bowling for Soup is one of the bands we have been studying as part of our chosen genre, and this video is mainly performance based. There are several aspects that we are going to be using;
Close ups of singer's face, guitars, drums.
Band movement/energy.
Fast camera zooms into/out of the band.
The second video I will be looking at is:
This video is also largely performance based, and the two videos share several shots:
The shot from the front of the bands, showing all of the band members in one frame, are both used, and the close ups of the singer and the band members are a common trait. The fast paced editing creates an atmosphere more in keeping with the pop punk genre, and it is this fast pace that we are going to use in our music video. HOWEVER, we will also be using slow paced editing for the verses because the verses are slower, and have some slow tracking shots in them perhaps.
